Backgrounds are what you did before you began adventuring. Your background informs your worldview and knowledge of Ancient Khares. For example, if you were a stone mason and came upon a partially collapsed room, you could tell if the room is safe to go in. Your background also determines your starting equipment. Farmers, laborers and shepherds are the most common profession in Khares. Some backgrounds are literate and are able to read and write Kharesian script.

Some backgrounds are special and come with a unique item. These unique items allow you to use special abilities.
